Why is There a Need to Test?

People can develop conjunctivitis by coming into contact with the tears or discharge from the eyes of an infected person, then touching their own eyes. Some viral particles may survive on surfaces up to 49 days. Conjunctivitis, when associated with upper respiratory infection (sore throat and runny nose), can be spread by droplets from coughing or sneezing.
